Moses Warusam originates from Saibai Island in the Torres Straits and was raised by his grandparents Mebai and Rona Warusam.
After studying music at Centre for Aboriginal Studies in Music in Adelaide University, he relocated back to his Island home and became a Music Teacher and a Teacher’s Aide at Saibai Island State School for three years. Due to limited opportunities for
music on the island, Moses moved to Cairns in 2007 and enrolled at Tropical North Queensland TAFE graduating with an Advanced Diploma in Music.

Moses started playing with several bands and networking with local Cairns musicians. He continues to be one of the most sort after session guitarist to several bands and music ensembles, performing both locally, along the Queensland coast and also northern New South Wales.
He has also toured regularly with The Taste (Cairns band) up and down the east coast of Queensland and New South Wales.
Moses’ skill and professionalism has seen him record with some of the far north Queensland’s top original artists and bands and playing sideman to these acts for a decade.
In 2018 with the help of RADF grant, Moses released his first original album, self titled ‘Moses Warusam’.
It is definitely Moses’ time to take centre stage and front his own band once and for all.
